OMG, we’ve got a new site!!!
I should have checked back sooner. I seem to have lost a few years in there somewhere. lol
I guess I can’t edit posts (if I take too long)… I was excited so I posted too early. lol
I wanted to say that I’m actually really happy that everything is still going well and to see that “Grandroids” still has a site and that the project continues! I’m actually beyond words. 😀

@steve yeah, it is partly our fault, years ago you said you could always just slap a text thing and cute eyes on them and call it a day. And once you asked us if you could have a little more time.
We answered with “sure, but here are some more wishes we got for the game…”

@genesis Yeah, it did take a bit longer, didn’t it? 🙂 When I did the Kickstarter I was sure I could write a simple Creatures replacement in the space of a year. And I could have done. I raised what most people would consider enough money to last six months or so, so it seemed doable. But then I started to have new ideas! Quite big and important ideas, and you guys encouraged me to pursue them. So, six months’ funding has had to stretch over, what, 13 years??!?! My closest friend has kept me afloat throughout this time but it was kind of silly of me to try. I should have got a job in Walmart…
In the Spring I’ve promised to give an academic seminar to a bunch of ocean ecologists and oceanographers, and I’m trying to think what I can say to them. “Don’t!” is the only advice I’ve come up with so far! It’s a pity they won’t be interested in my big ideas, though. They aren’t interested in cognition or consciousness, and I’m not interested in oceanography! I only agreed to do it for Freya, because it’s where she’s doing her PhD and it’ll give me a chance to meet her IRL (we’ve only talked on video up to now). But hopefully they’ll find what I’m doing interesting, anyway. An ecosystem with five creatures in it! And some mushrooms. 🙂 Plus I need the practice, because I think I’m going to have a lot of interest from other academic fields, just like I did last time. I’ve been such a hermit ever since the Kickstarter. I was trying to describe my former life in England to another friend recently and I’d forgotten just how radically different it was…
