Cancellation policy

I believe it should never be harder to cancel something than it is to join in the first place, and so you can easily cancel your account through the Account menu above, or by clicking here.

You can also upgrade and downgrade at any time, for instance from a paid tier to a free (visitor) tier by clicking here. It’s fine to downgrade to a free tier any time you feel you need to, and I’d much prefer this to losing you completely. That way your account will be retained and your creatures will automatically go into suspended animation at the end of your current payment period. Then you can upgrade again at any time and all will be well. However, for this to work, no refunds will be given unless there are extraordinary circumstances, so please don’t sign up for more than you’re willing to lose.

Discussion policy

My work isn’t specifically aimed at children, but there may well be children here (not to mention people from different cultures, and people who are neurodivergent, as I am), so kindly bear that in mind when you make comments, etc. Other than that, just be kind, be considerate, be friendly, or be banned.

Privacy policy

This site requires some data from you in order to set up your account and take payments. Payment data will be gathered directly by Stripe, who act as the payment gateway, and so this falls under their own sensible privacy policy. Some data may be held in cookies on your local device, for instance to make it easier to log in, and these conform to standard WordPress practices, just like half the sites on the internet. I’m not interested in selling or exploiting your data.

The game itself also periodically collects your email address, in order to connect with your account on this site. The site uses https, and so these communications are encrypted.

AI policy

I use some AI-generated images on this site, because I can’t draw and I can’t afford to pay people to draw for me. However, I’m conscious that the training sets for generative AI rely on the hard work and skill of human artists, who often don’t get paid for their contribution. All I can say for now is, I’m sorry! A picture paints a thousand words, they say, and so a website without images can’t portray feelings and concepts very well. But I sympathize, and if people want to donate any of their own art to replace the AI images, I’d be happy to discuss it.
