I’ve forgotten too! My brain isn’t working any more, just like my heart…

I’m pretty sure you can do it in the notebook, if you can get that far. But if not, try deleting everything from C:\Users\<username>\AppData\LocalLow\Grandroids\Phantasia\States, assuming you’re running on a PC. I’m not totally sure that will work, but let me know, because I should be able to do it from here by wiping your files off the cloud.

I can’t easily run the game at the moment, so it’s hard to tell. If it doesn’t work, then that’s a bug that I’ll have to fix! It shouldn’t even be possible to have too many creatures. Unless you’re spawning them locally, which should fix itself by deleting all the files in that folder.

@steve thanks andi know how that feels, had that after a corona infection… good old ginko helped against the direct brain fog and lionsmane (specially a hour before a mental task) helped me there a lot to keep my brain fresh (and saved some of my animals when they had had “uncurable” nervecell related  issues).

And no need delte it on the cloud,  you needto knowhowto reset itmyown. I break my worlds to often for that…

Also delted 21 bollys, leaving just 7 in the world. This fixed my problem, guess my PC is to old for a big bolly population…

Edit: saddly just duplicating the food pelet files gave me no infinite amount of food pellets… but yeah, that would be to easy, where is the fun in that! However when i picked up things, they just disapeared and couldn’t find them. I assume some key combination would bring them back – however an “inventory” on my cardboard would be more intuitive to find stuff again

@genesis Well, if you mess with raw data files, you’re on your own! 🙂

The general idea is that there are a certain number of creatures in the entire world, and they visit each of us when they want to. So, there’s no such thing as “your” creatures, because tomorrow I might have them.

But I knew you and some others would want to have more control than this and have your very own creatures. So I’ve put in some code for that – there will be “farm worlds”, where you can mess with things, edit creatures, etc., without spoiling it for anyone else. But I haven’t worked out exactly how that’s going to work, yet, and it will need a user interface. Been a bit too busy! 🙂

You’ve probably discovered that you can create LOCAL creatures and they’ll still be on your hard drive the next time you play. But I can’t remember how that works. Maybe they get uploaded to the cloud, in which case you could potentially crash the entire system for everybody. You’ll have to wait until I have the time and energy to write code that handles disaster recovery, etc. It’s a REALLY complex system, and it’s going to take some time to get it “Mabus-proof”!

There is an inventory and it works fine. But if you’re just duplicating data files by hand then that’s not going to work. Every filename contains a GUID, so unless you vary it, you’ll end up trying to recreate exactly the same pellet multiple times. You can adjust the filename of the duplicate to give it a different GUID, but it might mess up various other things, not sure. And you’d have to check that the GUID you created is in fact a unique identifier, even if not globally. Otherwise, a pellet might replace something important.

@steve I just cheat coded a lot of creatures into the world  to see how many it takes before the game break – and then i doubled it.

Also the farm-mode, i would sugest a two tier system. Normal “Players/Caretakers” and some “Admins/Landlords” – the Landlords get a higher amount of control (delting creatures out of the Myst Dimension, Adding/Removing new player made breeds, ban list for players of their land and similar stuff)

Somehow the amount of Landlords must be limited, that is easy, they pay more that 5$, my guesswork would be 10-15, but could be higher – you do the math.

Landlords get a Name and Code to enter their land with their curated bollys.

The names for those seperate gurneys need to be at least this long: “The Island of Doctor Moreau”

– how the local creatures might work – those i cheated all apeared as files in my foulder i could delte without problem. (except the problems i caused – only the hair buged out)

Yeah, probably already killed the system by just duplicating it, but i just wait for the nexthad reset with the next build

P.S. Mabus proof does not exist – i got a lucky hand in finding the cracks ad edge cases in any system (however a world reset button would be the next best thing – somewhere in the loading screen )

@genesis Caste systems like this are begging for elitism and abuse of power to show up. Especially if all you gotta do is throw more money at the system to move up in it.

It does sound like it would be better to have tasks that amount to moderation (like blocking or deleting community-made content) in the hands of purposefully selected moderators instead of as a contributor tier. Offline/sandbox play can be a separate issue.

@kurgan some would, others won’t.

I know i would defendly make my own gurney of the lawless. Collecting all anti-norns, mad scientist, cheaters and trolls!

Those are my kind of people – i would love to enjoy that madness – and you could trow those causing trouble in your gurneys into mine!

And i think we would need some kind of moderation anyway. The comment sections on the youtube-antinorn-drama video showed how many others there are who would try that imidiently! And any kind of moderation would need some kind of hirachy.

Players could still choose their gurneys (if they aren’t banned in those) and steve always got the option to give players he likes the keys for an official gurney for free. Creating some pride in beeing responsible for an official gurney.

…after all we will defendl need some containment system. And i would love to have the lawless domain of chaos! I just strugle with the name, something like glitter unicorn, pink fluff balls or something else that is compleatly counter intuitive to the maddnes that will be there!

@genesis seems like the affinity system in the community concept Steve talked about before would already address the issue of potential bolly torturers, especially if they can leave and appear mid-game. If you abuse a bolly, it won’t like you and probably won’t come back, and can be more easily rehabilitated than a norn forced to spend its existence on one person’s disk as long as they please. I don’t see what in-game moderation would be needed for except maybe to reset naughty names, which could be mostly handled autonomously anyway.

I don’t oppose the idea of different “servers” for different types of players, that’s a pretty common concept, but I don’t think any person needs to have more “ownership” over them than another, besides Steve himself.

Did I miss something?  I’ve been away tending to other projects and my mental health.

Am I correct in presuming that a new build is out?

@foggygoofball Not that I know of. Pretty sure this thread is about fixing an issue encountered on the last build. Steve’s most recent blog comment (last 24 hours) said we’ll get some screenshots and info soon after some asset/shader updates.

someone out of the recently revived creatures community asked for screenshots to draw some fan art.  However i broke my build and had to fix that before i could make any screenshots….
