I figure there will be many improvements in the next version, and no rush of course as I know there’s so much to be done and I think blog posts said some things in the current version were rushed.
I’ve been very frustrated with how movement currently works, though. I don’t like that I can’t rotate in a complete circle and I don’t like that there’s no option to hide the walking stick and clipboard. I understand immersion was the idea, but I feel ease of movement took a hit for it. I haven’t played as much as I would like lately because I’ve been so frustrated with these things.Â
We had this discussion on a blog post, but it’s really not that hard to get used to as it is.
Yeah, I know. I completely rewrote it months ago, but you haven’t seen the results yet! 🙂
It’ll be much improved in the next build. People get extremely worked up about user interface issues but they’re not a high priority for me, because I have much, much harder things to worry about. Even so, I realize I made a big mistake releasing a build the way it was – I’d been working on the notebook and released it when I got that basically working. But I shouldn’t have done that. I learned my lesson, and that’s partly why there hasn’t been a new build for ages. It still won’t be perfect yet, but I did it all a different way and it’s much better. No cane, no notebook until it’s wanted – they were there to provide an orientation reference, but they aren’t needed now. You can turn as much as you like and set off in that direction, no matter which way your feet were pointing at the time.
Awesome! Good to know.
I didn’t mean to sound overly nitpicky about it especially because I think you said the UI was rushed in this build in a blog post. I’m glad it will be much better soon though!
